Using Picture Books to Teach For Peace
Peace themed picture books can have a tremendous impact on children and can be a starting point for
important discussions and activities that help children understand the many ways of being peaceful
inside themselves, among friends, across cultures, and in nature.
Practical Life Activities for Inner Peace
Practical life activities have been the cornerstone of Montessori classrooms for nearly 100 years, yet they
can readily be incorporated into any early childhood learning or caregiving setting. From flower
arranging to sweeping rose petals, from polishing silver to pouring rice, these simple, attractive
activities build attention and concentration which lead to inner peace.
Inner Peace for the Young Child
Cultivate inner peace by integrating activities in stillness & silence, concentration & attention,
mindfulness, gratitude, meaningful activity, and self reliance. Ideas and resources designed specifically
children ages 2-5 years.
